Achieving a Circular Economy – in partnership with World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Meeting Title: Circular Economy - transitioning from linear to circular
Date & time: Monday, 10 June, 2019, 4:00PM – 7:00PM
WBCSD’s Vision 2050 outlined a pathway towards a society that did not create a particle of waste. Quickly approaching 30 years from when we expected to be 100% circular, we currently are only 9%. Instead of biasing our thinking on today’s status quo and anchoring our ambitions to incremental change, we should increasingly think about the envisioned end state and work backwards. A global roadmap towards circularity is needed to pave the paths that each sector and industry must follow to establish a closed loop economy.
This interactive Forum will consist of in-depth workshop style discussions. All attendees will be invited to share their perspectives and experiences into what the a 2050 closed loop economy looks like, the critical elements to achieve it and how each sector and industry can do their part. The input collected during this session will inform an update to Vision 2050 that WBCSD is conducting.
40+ senior executives, investors, academics and leading associations will be part of the debate
- Brendan Edgerton, Director, Circular Economy, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)
- Louise Koch, Corporate Sustainability Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa, DELL
